Amidst a downpour of rain, spirits were high and our Golfers held out hope that a great day of Golf would take place.  But, alas, a decision was made to give each foursome 18 holes with a cart for a date of their choice!  Our committee carried on, as great Rotarians do and made the day a tremendous success.
Golfers enjoyed a boxed lunch and gathered for some camaraderie, while we waited for a possible chance to hit the links!  Rotarians had a chance to reengage with old friends and meet new people from our District, while our golf committee busily prepared the raffle and sold tickets.
Our raffle gift baskets were creative and beautifully done. The baskets provided by our Rotary Clubs, were some of the best yet and everyone was happy to have a chance to win a prize. And of course, as is tradition, we had wonderful books, which are always a treat to win!  The grand prize was a first- class Rotary Firepit!  Easy to disassemble, this firepit had the Mark of Excellence symbol on the side, which I am told, will shine on the ground when the firepit is lit.
It was decided to move the dinner time up so we could get our Golfers in out of the wet weather and home earlier than planned.  As in traditional fashion, for Twin Hills Country Club, the dinner was delicious.  The food was abundant.
We used the proceeds from the event as part of our “Come Bank to Give Back Theme”.  Three Rotary Clubs were awarded $2000 each for a Community Service Project.  Those clubs were East Longmeadow, Suffield and New Milford!!  Congratulations to these lucky winners, we look forward to hearing about your projects!  We hope to make this an annual event and grow profits to honor even more clubs next year.  DGE Randy has already talked with the Golf Course about securing a date without rain for next year!!
We were thankful and honored to have 33 clubs support and take part in this event!  We thank everyone that attended. Most of all I would like to thank Kate Sims, who coordinated this event for our District and the incredible team of people that helped.  Kate, we are forever grateful!  These are not easy events.  Meeting every week, getting our raffle baskets from the club to the golf course, planning out the day, working with the restaurant to coordinate the food, securing tee signs with printing, the registration of the golfers, check in the day of the event and of course selling raffle tickets, takes a lot of work and dedicated Rotarians who set the benchmark for future years. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of you as we Come Back to Give Back and Serve to Change Lives!
