South Windsor Rotary Celebrates 50 Years

South Windsor Rotary celebrated their 50th Anniversary on December
8, 2010 at the Mill on the River. Over 130 guests celebrated "50 years of
Changing Lives in the Community and the World". Three
of the five living Charter Members were on hand to be recognized (pictured). The
club was chartered on October 19, 1960.
Each Rotarian received a 52 page book
commemorating the South Windsor Rotary Club's history. South Windsor Rotary is
best known for the construction of Rotary Pavilion at Nevers Road Park, lights
at Rotary Field where South Windsor Legion plays, lights at the Little League
field. South Windsor Rotary has also donated $50,000 to PolioPlus and hundreds
of thousands of dollars to local and international projects. It also
donates $20,000 of scholarships annually and cumulatively has given
$750,000 in scholarships since 1960.
