On January 30, 2011, eight members of the Rotary Club of Simsbury-Granby participated in the 2010-2011Penguin Plunge to raise money for the CT Special Olympics.  This being their first year participating, the team plunged through a hole in the ice-covered lake at Winding Trails Park in Farmington with great enthusiasm and raised over $2,000 for this worthy cause.  Governor Prasad remarked, "It was no big deal at all, but the 30 minute wait in a T-shirt, swim trunks and a pair of waterproof socks on the ice was brutal."

Simsbury-Granby has supported group homes in their community for years, providing a holiday banquet for about 70 local special needs citizens.  Participating in the Penguin Plunge this year seemed an appropriate partner project to their ongoing efforts to support mentally and physically challenged people throughout Connecticut.

DG Prasad would like to remind all District Rotarians to take the plunge as well and return their DREAM CARDS with their annual fund donations!
